Topstep Trade Copier
Topstep is one of the most well-known futures prop trading firms. They offer traders the opportunity to earn a funded account through their Trading Combine evaluation. Traders Prism connects to Topstep via TopstepX (ProjectX).
Connection method: TopstepX / ProjectX
Topstep limits by account size
The targets and limits for each Topstep account, by phase. Traders Prism monitors your connected accounts against these and shows how much room each one has left. It does not enforce them — set the matching limits as risk rules if you want the copier to act.

Maximum loss follows your highest balance up, so banking profit raises the floor you must stay above. Firms change their rules — check the current terms with Topstep before relying on them.
Common questions
Can I copy trades across several Topstep accounts?
Yes. You trade one lead account and every fill is mirrored to the follower accounts you choose. Each follower has its own position size and its own risk rules, so a $50,000 evaluation and a $150,000 funded account can follow the same trade at different contract counts.
Can I copy between Topstep and a different prop firm?
Yes. A copier class can hold accounts at different firms and on different platforms at the same time. The lead can be at one firm and the followers at several others.
How do I connect a Topstep account?
Topstep connects through its own ProjectX / TopstepX API. You generate an API key in ProjectX and paste it in with your username — there is no password to enter.
Does Traders Prism know Topstep's drawdown rules?
Yes. We hold Topstep's targets and limits per account size and show how much room each connected account has left — for example a 100K funded account carries a $2,000 daily loss limit and a $3,000 trailing drawdown. This is monitoring, not enforcement: to have the copier actually block or flatten a trade you set the matching limits as your own risk rules.
How does Topstep's trailing drawdown work?
Your maximum loss level follows your highest end-of-day balance, so it only moves once a session closes. Profit on an open trade does not raise it, and giving that profit back before the close costs you nothing against this limit. Once you are funded and clear of it, the floor stops moving and locks at your starting balance.
What happens if one account hits its limit?
Whatever you told it to do. Risk rules run per account and can warn you, block new entries, flatten the position, or lock the account out for the rest of the session. A lock is written down rather than held in memory, so it survives a restart.
