Traders Prism vs Tradecopia

The fork is architectural. Tradecopia's entry plan is a program on your computer; Traders Prism is a service on ours. We built Traders Prism, so read this knowing who wrote it. Everything in the Tradecopia column comes from tradecopia.com and docs.tradecopia.com — their own pages, pricing and documentation — and nothing from reviews.

What each one is for

Tradecopia is a futures trade copier. Its entry plan is a native desktop app for Windows and macOS running on your own machine; higher plans move it to managed hosting or a dedicated single-tenant VPS with a static IP. It copies between mixed brokers in a group, applies per-account risk profiles, and ships a journal and prop-firm tracker.

Traders Prism is a hosted copier with a journal and a prop-firm risk layer on one plan. There is no desktop app and no VPS — the copier runs on our infrastructure and holds the broker connections itself.

The differences that decide it

  • What has to stay up. Ours is our servers. On their $49.99 plan it is your own machine — their documentation gives minimum requirements of 16GB of RAM, a modern CPU and a wired Ethernet connection. Always-on hosting is their $79.99 and $149.99 plans, and their pricing page offers the free trial on the desktop plan only.
  • Sizing. They scale each follower to that account's balance. We offer a per-follower multiplier plus micro conversion by contract value, and no percent-of-equity mode. This one is theirs.
  • Rules on by default. A preset applies to a follower as soon as it is attached, and a resolver shows which rules can actually fire. Their documentation states risk parameters must be explicitly enabled.
  • News events. We can block entries around scheduled economic releases. No news-event lockout appears in their documentation.
  • Prop-firm rules. We model six firms per phase and account size with live drawdown proximity, and call it monitoring rather than compliance. Their fine print states: "Compliance with each prop firm's specific rules remains your responsibility — Tradecopia provides the tooling, not a guarantee."
  • Platforms. We connect Rithmic, Tradovate, NinjaTrader and Topstep's ProjectX API. Their FAQ and documentation list five: Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, TopstepX and TradingView.

Where Tradecopia wins

  • Equity-based sizing to each account's balance — a capability we do not have.
  • You can run the copier on hardware you control, including a dedicated VPS with a static IP.
  • More rule types: symbol whitelists, weekly loss limits and trade-frequency caps.
  • Roughly 87 help-centre articles against our twenty or so.
  • TradingView execution, which we do not support at all.
  • A cheaper entry price at $49.99 and a large published network of prop-firm partner discounts.
